Woke Up This Morning

Like Tony Soprano, I have another family. It is my friends at TJ’s Gym. I have worked out with TJ for seven years now, starting when I was pregnant with Alice. Over the years, TJ’s has changed a lot—more people, more gyms, more muscles across the board for sure—but the one constant for me has been the people. I can’t imagine a better group of people to get out of bed at the crack of dawn for—this is one rock-solid community, and I am so lucky to have them behind me right now.

Several people have expressed surprise (and in my Dad’s case, worry!) that I am continuing to work out while doing chemo.  The thing is, I’m not going to shut down my life for cancer, so I am doing everything I can right now to feel normal. And spending the hours of 5-6:30am at TJ’s is normal for me—so it's what I do.

Thank you TJ and Allison for all that you do, every day--I could not get through this without you.

  1. If you WEREN'T working out every day, THAT'S when I'd be worried! Staying in shape, strong and healthy has always been a priority of yours. Keep it up!
I don't know you TJ and Allison, but I think you're the greatest.

  2. Sounds like you are doing all the right stuff! This is just another big bump in the road and you have all the right stuff to just step over this one. I've had three spinal surgeries, fractured my neck and was paralyzed from the neck down for one month and in rehab for a year, had triple neg breast cancer, chemo and a double mastectomy nineteen years ago but hey... Shit happens! My doctor told me I was a high-stepper. I said "what's that". He said " when shit happens, a high-stepper just steps over it". Well you're a high stepper too Margie and you'll jump over this one I'm sure. But if you need a boost, I hope you know that we are all here to help and carry you through this if need be. Stay strong and resilient. Love you much triple neg partner. Reggie and Billy too.

  4. Dad here : yes, I worry about Margie "over-doing" her exercise..I worried about that
before Margie's cancer. Margie always gives more than 100%...always has. I know Margie will
    make the right choices.
Thanks to Jackie, Reggie, TJ and Allison and all at TJ's Gym...for your continuing support of Margie.
Joan and i are so excited to be visiting Margie, Chris and granddaughters, Elsa and Alice soon !
Humid back here in upstate New York...raining right now. Abrief storm last night.
Peace, health and love to all..Namaste, Dad
